Editorial responsibility
John is responsible for the archive’s published prose, the selection and review of sources, the maintenance of its historical datasets and the final decisions about corrections. United History does not present a fictional newsroom or an unnamed editorial team: responsibility for the material rests with its named author and publisher.
The archive brings together seasons, managers, players, honours, stadium history and major events. Its purpose is to connect those records and explain why changes mattered, while keeping factual claims distinguishable from calculations and interpretation.
How the work is checked
Research begins with official club, league and competition records. Museum, library and archive material is used where it adds institutional or historical context. Reputable contemporary reporting supports recent appointments and events that are not yet covered fully by retrospective sources. Reference databases may help locate a lead, but they are not treated as the sole authority for an important disputed claim.
Dates, totals and role labels are compared across sources before publication. Where records use different definitions—such as league-only versus all-competition matches, appointment date versus first match, or permanent versus caretaker responsibility—the difference is stated instead of being hidden.
Independence and limits
John Williams and United History are not affiliated with or endorsed by Manchester United Football Club. Club and competition names are used only to identify the historical subjects discussed. The archive does not use an official crest as its brand mark.
No academic, journalistic or professional qualification is claimed on this page. Readers should judge the work through its visible sources, definitions, dated review notes and correction process. When the public evidence does not support a precise conclusion, the archive should state that limit.
